Exploring pattern of complexity in mega construction projects

Purpose Megaprojects are known as complex projects that involve high levels of uncertainty. This interpretive study explores and portrays perceived complexity in mega construction by lived experiences project managers. Design/methodology/approach utilises a ground theory approach to analyse data gathered from semi-structured interviews with 18 professionals involved 11 megaprojects. Findings Complexity is defined property stems the interaction features, uncertain variables/conditions, managerial actions forming pattern, which emerges over time, based on reflections practitioners. Originality/value defines practitioners industry uniquely identifies patterns may have implications for management, particularly risk management.
